Position Purpose

Setup, manage and support production, test and development infrastructure including application, database and server platforms to ensure the highest standards of availability, resilience, integrity, security and performance required by the organization. 

Main Duties of Position 

Oracle VM 

  • Regular health checks for VM servers and the VM Manager
  • Managing the Oracle VM Cluster
  • Manage and monitor the backups of Oracle VM Manager regularly and transfer the backups to more than one location

Oracle Enterprise Linux (OEL 6) – EBS (DB and APPS), BI (DB and APPS), Print  

 Server, OVM Manager, OVM Servers 

  • Monitoring the log files and error reports if any
  • File system management
  • CPU and RAM utilization
  • Checking the printer status and queue
  • Applying OS Patches and Upgrade the Operating system to higher version
  • Working with Oracle support for issues related to any of the above
  • Monitoring the performance of the OS
  • Manage and monitor the OS related backups and test by restoring to the test server
  • Create and format new disks / LUNs previously Mapped on VM guest


Oracle Database / Application Backup – EBS / BI 

  • Monitor the EBS/BI DB / Apps / OS backups using Commvault  / Symantec console  daily
  • Check the backups by restoring  / cloning to the test environments and verifying the integrity of it regularly
  • Monitor the performance of the backups
  • Check for any backup errors and resolve

 Disaster Recovery site – EBS 

  • Daily monitor the backups and archives restore on the DR site and resolve issues if any.
  • Regular test the DR site by performing clone of EBS db and apps
  • Test the DR clone environment by verifying the data between DR and PROD

Oracle Database Administration (EBS DB / BI DB) 

  • Monitoring and administration of performance of DB through Enterprise manager, SQL / PLSQL commands
  • Verify the Oracle Production and non-Production instances
  • Monitoring the archive destinations
  • Checking the alert log for any errors and removing the old alerts
  • Review database tuning opportunities
  • Monitor I/O Contention
  • Generate AWR / STATSPACK report to analyze the performance of the Database
  • Manage the SGA (Database memory)
  • Install, patch and maintain all Oracle software
  • Ensure that there are no DBMS_JOBS with the status of failed or broken.
  • Check to ensure that no objects exist in the database with the status ‘INVALID’ 

Oracle Application System Administration – EBS 

  • Applying patches DEV / TEST and Production environments as required
  • Restarting the apache, web, forms and concurrent services as required
  • Supporting the technical and functional team to migrate all the solution from DEV / TEST instance to PRODUCTION Instance
  • Creating new responsibilities, functions menus ,value sets, etc
  • Creating the users and assigning the responsibilities to the users
  • Supporting the technical and functional teams for Service Request updates using Oracle Support
  • Troubleshooting the issues faced by the users regarding Forms, Java, connectivity
  • Monitoring the Concurrent Managers and checking the performance of the Concurrent Programs
  • Upgrading Oracle Application to the latest release
  • Migration of custom components
  • Monitoring and administer of Oracle Workflow and notification mailer
  • Interaction with Oracle Support team for Severity 1 issues 

Oracle Business Intelligence Application (OBIA) 

  • Daily health checks for BI application
  • Applying patches to TEST / PROD
  • Solving user login issues (session cookie integration with EBS login)
  • Monitory and maintain the incremental load daily and resolve any issues related to it.
  • Perform initial load when needed (performing all the pre and post checks when running initial load on BI Prod)
  • Adding new GL codes
  • Monitor the performance Weblogic application server, agents, built in ODI framework, BI and ODI Domains, Analytics daily  resolve issues if any.

Oracle Data Integrator (ODI Standalone) 

  • Configuration and Administration of Oracle Data integrator with the Legacy and ERP system
  • Creating the Agent – Scheduler to run the Interfaces on Production environment from Legacy systems
  • Monitoring the Agent log files for any errors
  • Migrating the components from TEST instance to Production
  • Working closely with ERP – APPs team to resolve issues related interface failures.

Hyperion Environment (DEV, TEST, Pre-PROD) 

  • Install, configure the Hyperion environment
  • Backup configuration of Hyperion application and Essbase Database
  • Configuring and managing Hyperion user integration with Windows AD
  • Managing and monitoring the performance of Windows, Hyperion (B&P application) , Essbase database (MOLAP DB) , Oracle Database (OLAP DB for Hyperion metadata)
  • Applying latest patches
  • Backup and restore Essbase database
